Gavin
I was very
disappointed to learn of the plans by Redditch Borough Council to
scrap free bus travel for pensioners.
At the time
of the local elections you accused the Redditch Advertiser of
errors in its article of 2nd April when what you were
quoted as saying was interpreted as signalling your plans to scrap
free bus passes.
Now we know
the truth. Labour leaflets at the time were
entirely correct and three months after taking the leadership of
the Borough Council you are indeed proposing to end our free bus
pass scheme.
I hope that
you will have the courage to change your mind in the face of
considerable public disquiet. If not, you will
need to come out from behind the cloak of Council secrecy and
explain how your recent decisions match up to your protestations at
the time of the election.
