Redditch
Crime
Update
Whilst
crime overall has fallen in recent years, people tell me that it
remains a key concern. I thought it would be helpful to
let you know about recent developments in tackling crime in
Redditch and for me to hear your ideas for new community payback
schemes.
Neighbourhood
Policing
Every
area of Redditch now has its own dedicated team of police officers
and police community support officers. They know what’s going on in
your neighbourhood and can respond more easily to your
worries. They hold
surgeries and local PACT meetings where you can have your
say. Their priorities
are set in discussion with people locally and action is reported
back.
You
can go to
www.direct.gov.uk/localcrime and put your postcode in to
get details.
Policing
Pledge
West
Mercia Police have signed up to the National Policing
Pledge. This gives a
guarantee of service from local police, for example their immediate
response to 999 calls, that neighbourhood teams will spend at least
80% of their time out in your area and that you can make an
appointment to talk about non urgent local crime
problems.
Crime
Maps
National
figures show that the risk of being a victim of crime remains
historically low. But
it’s what happens on our street and in our area that impacts
directly on us.
That’s why you can now look at a ‘map’ which shows levels of crime
in your neighbourhood. You can also compare it with
other areas. Just go
to
www.maps.police.uk
