Home Office minister, Vernon Coaker MP visited Redditch Police Station to meet with Chief Superintendent Angela Burnet, members of the drugs squad,
Community Safety Officers and local beat police.Vernon Coaker was invited to Redditch by local MP, Jacqui Smith because of the success of local
drugs operations – an area of responsibility for the minister.
Jacqui said
“I was pleased that Vernon could come to Redditch to see for himself the success of recent operations against people involved in drug crime. I
wanted him to see that and help us celebrate the cut in crime locally. Overall reported crime fell again by 7% this year on top of previous falls. Redditch police deserve our thanks for
their part in that success – the minister passed on thee thanks of the government.”
Vernon Coaker’s said.
“Jacqui asked me to come to Redditch because she said the her local police were particularly good. They have taken on drug dealers head on with
high profile raids showing that these people are far from untouchable and will be dealt with.I was also pleased to meet with
new Community Support Officers and local police officers. They are making a tremendous contribution to fighting crime and making the streets of Redditch feel safer. There will be more
CSO in next year and that can only be good!”
