Diary 16
November 2009
Last week I
visited JHP Training at 70 Prospect Hill. They offer help to people who’ve
been made redundant to get back in to work. With government funding, they
can provide help even before people have to leave their job and I
met people who’d been able to find new jobs in a matter of
weeks. So if you’re
facing redundancy, why not get in touch with them at their office
on Prospect Hill or on 584112.
This month,
unemployment in Redditch fell by more than in any other part of
Worcestershire. But
we’ve still got a long way to go and that’s why government support
for people in hard times is so important.
When money is
tight, debt problems can also rear their ugly head. That’s why the Government has
published proposals to stop credit and store card companies making
life more difficult!
They include banning the practice of increasing credit limits
without prior consent and sending out unasked for credit card
cheques. There’s also
a plan to change the rules so that the most expensive debt on your
credit card is paid off first. (Currently most credit card
companies make you pay off the cheapest debt first.) Please contact me if you’ve had
a bad experience with credit or store cards and I’ll feed your
views in to the consultation.
Calling all Redditch
bikers! Last week I
met with Andy Pyatt from the local Motorcycle Action
Group. They lobby on
behalf of all motorcyclists and have some issues locally about
better parking and access to bus routes that I’ll be taking up with
the County Council as well. If you’d like to get involved
with them, you can contact Andy on 07786621597.
